We announce the passing of Charles “Chip” Kenneth Dixon. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 31, 1948, Chip was a man whose life was a masterclass in faith, generosity, and the perfect punchline. He returned to his Heavenly Father on January 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as rich as the grace he so freely shared with anyone he met. Charles was an extremely proud Veteran of the US Navy where he was a Communications Expert. He was an esteemed employee of Bagby Elevator with over 35 years of service and a dedicated member of College Park Baptist Church for more than 35 years. Among many of life’s enjoyments, Chip was an enthusiastic Alabama Football fan and Earnhardt family devotee.
Preceded in death by his father, Kenneth C. Dixon, mother, Grace Brown Dixon, and 2 brothers, Glenn and Ralph Dixon. Survived by his loving wife, just 1 month shy of 25 years, Beverly Langham Dixon; his 5 children, Matt (Robyn) Blackwell, Angela (Adam) Walker, Darlene Grivat, Matthew and Michael Dixon; his 3 grandchildren, Alyssa Graham, Samuel Walker, and Lennon Blackwell; his 3 sisters, Charlene Woods, Sharon Southern, and Elizabeth Maxwell; brother-in-law, Bo (Phyllis) Langham; many nieces, nephews, family and close friends who are all a little bit better for having known him.
Chip’s most defining trait was his profound spiritual conviction within a life of devoted faith. His relationship with God wasn’t just a part of his life; it was the very foundation of it. He lived with an open heart and a spirit of service, embodying the commandment to love one’s neighbor. Whether through his involvement at College Park Baptist Church or his quiet daily prayers, his "Godliness" was never about a prideful self-importance, it was about a genuine, humble desire to reflect the light of Christ to everyone he encountered.
His "shirt-off-his-back" mentality truly set Chip apart. He was the first person to show up when a neighbor’s car broke down, the first to offer a meal to a stranger, and the last to take any credit for it. If someone was in need, Chip didn’t just offer "thoughts and prayers", he offered his hands, his wallet, and his time. He would pray with, and for you, at that very second. He lived by the belief that everything he owned was a gift from God, meant to be shared, not a treasure to be guarded.
To his wife, Beverly, he was more than a partner; he was a constant source of strength and encouragement. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to the sentiment "for better or for worse”. Chip did his best to ensure it was mostly for “the better” through his unwavering loyalty and his ability to make her laugh even in the toughest of times. He loved Beverly with a passion that was visible to all who knew them. Beverly was more than Chip’s partner, she was the love of his life and he was her’s.
The world was Chip’s stage. As a self-proclaimed, “sit-down” comedian, he possessed the rare gift of finding humor in the mundane and joy in the struggle. He believed that laughter was a form of healing, and he was never stingy with the medicine. Chip found a way to make people smile. During family meals, he would crack head-shakingly awful dad jokes, stealthily snatch food from neighboring plates, and wreak pure havoc causing everyone to blame one another for the hilarious chaos. He reminded us all not to take life too seriously. His grandkids will tell you that Chip was a constant source of mischief; between his wild antics and his legendary, larger-than-life dinner table yodels, he kept the whole family (especially Beverly) on their toes. His songs about “chickens with lips, rattlesnakes with hips, and elephants blowing bubbles through their noses” will reverberate through the ears of our familial lineage for eons. He was the light of our lives and he will be missed every second of every day from now until we meet again at the feet of our Savior.
Visitation will be held at Radney’s Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, Al. 36571 on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 9:30 am - 11 am. The funeral service will follow at 11 am.
Interment will be held at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, on Monday, January 26, 2026, promptly at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you boldly share your faith, spontaneously erupt in a glorious yodel, perform a random act of kindness, sing about animals doing fun things, or tell a really bad joke in Chip’s honor.
