

Charles C. Therrell – 94 died Monday, November 14, 2106, due to complications from pneumonia at a local hospital surrounded by his family. Mr. Therrell was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn J. Darnell; parents, Cecil and Ruth Therrell; six brothers, J.W., Herman, Herbert, Jack, Ray, and Roy Therrell; and great-granddaughter, Kaida. He is survived by his four children, Mike (Anna), Chris, Connie, and Caren; 10 grandchildren, Todd (Kate), Calli (Jesse), Tama (Ryan), Scott, Jake, Casey (Nikki), Clint, Easton, Jena, and Kinsey; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Therrell was born on August 9, 1922, grew up in Whistler, Alabama, and was an Army veteran of WWII, as were his six brothers. In the early years of his life, he and his wife resided in Whistler and were members of Bethany Baptist Church where he raised his family. After relocating to Saraland, Alabama, the joined Lafitte Baptist Church where he was an active member up until his death. He was a Christian man that honored God and his family all the days of his adult life. Mr. Therrell was a member of Masonic Lodge in Eight Mile and was to receive his 60 year pin this year. He served two terms as a legislator in the Alabama House of Representative He was also President of the Board of Credit Unions in the State of Alabama and President of the Board of the Friendly Credit Union. Mr. Therrell was a baseball pitcher in his youth and loved to watch the Atlanta Braves as often as he could. He loved college football and lived in a house divided because he had grandchildren that graduated from both the University of Alabama and Auburn University. Being the fair man the he was, he cheered for both teams. Mr. Therrell was a very special man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we know that he now resides in Heaven with those that have gone before him, especially his wife. Visitation will be held from Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Thursday, November 17, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held from Lafitte Baptist Church on Friday, November 18, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
