Born on March 30, 1941, and raised in Semmes, Alabama, Eugene was a man defined by hard work, strong values, and a deep love for his family. He carried a strong work ethic throughout his life and took pride in doing things the right way.
Eugene was the founder of A-1 McDuffie Sanitation, a company built on the same values he lived by honesty, dedication, and doing right by others. Through his work, he created not only a business, but a lasting legacy that will continue for generations.
Eugene loved the outdoors. Whether he was hunting or fishing, he found joy and peace in God’s creation. Some of his best days were spent outside, doing what he loved and sharing those moments with the people he cared about most. More than anything, Eugene lived a life dedicated to Jesus, and his faith was the foundation of who he was and how he treated others.
His family was the center of his world. His wife of 63 years, Jeannie McDuffie, and his daughter, Thersia Weaver (Gerald), along with his grandchildren, Kenneth Havens (Kirstie), Taylor Floyd (Wesley), Eugene Hicks (Hannah) with three bonus grandchildren, Michael Weaver (Jessica), Christine Weaver, and Jade Wooten, will carry on his legacy of strength, faith, and love.
His great-grandchildren were a continued source of pride and joy in his life, Truett, Blakeney, Sutton, Weston, Emery, and Carter along with seven bonus great-grandchildren, Breleigh, Peyton, Lakelyn, Emma, Brayden, Madison, and Kayliee.
His brothers, Jerry, Larry, and Randy McDuffie, and his sister, Linda Thompson, will remember him with love and gratitude for the life they shared and a son-in-law, Brian Hicks.
He is now reunited in heaven with his father, Claude Henry and his mother, Isabel McDuffie; his daughters, Tina Hicks, Sherry Jean, and Janice McDuffie; and his siblings, Thelma, Everett, Horace, Danny, Charlie, and Mary.
Eugene leaves behind a family who will miss his strength, his presence, and the example he set every day. His life was one of purpose, faith, and quiet impact and those who knew him are better because of it.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama.
The funeral service will be held Monday, March 23, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama, with a graveside service at Allentown Cemetery to follow.
Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing he is at peace and in the presence of the Lord he loved so much.
