Claude "Mike" Nelson

Claude “Mike” Nelson – proud Marine, husband, father and grandfather, a 71 year-old native of Citronelle, Alabama, raised in Eight Mile, Alabama and resident of Slidell, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023. He attended Semmes High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Nelson moved to Louisiana in 1975, where he met and married the love of his life, Patricia Nelson, to whom he was married for 48 years. He was a tow boat captain for over 50 years until he retired in 2018 to spend more time with his family, his greatest joy in life. Mr. Nelson spent his final weeks traveling with Patricia in their RV having adventures.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Warren Nelson and Mary Katherine Nelson; brother, Lee William Nelson; and sister, Barbara Jean Madden. Mr. Nelson is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Patricia Nelson; son, Jason Nelson (Christina); grandchildren, Gabby Kay Nelson and Gator Bear Nelson; brothers, Robert A. Nelson and George L. Nelson (Alicia); nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
