Curtis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Pike Heathcoe, daughter Melissa (Patrick) Pledger and son Dewayne (Tonia) Heathcoe, grandchildren Parker Pledger, Mallory Pledger Sullivan (Winston), William Heathcoe, Anthony Heathcoe, and one sister Rochelle Vance (Barry), beloved brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Helen Bertha Heathcoe.
Curtis was ever the servant during his life. He served as a Policeman and Volunteer Fireman, was a City Councilman in Creola for 3 terms and was a flight medic with the 1133rd Air Medevac Unit of the Army National Guard. Curtis was a long time member of Generations Church of Satsuma.
Curtis was known for his telling of tales and his “Curtis” jokes will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Pallbearers are Parker Pledger, William Heathcoe, Anthony Heathcoe, Joel Pike, Darrin Landrum and Winston Sullivan.
A visitation for Curtis will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, Alabama. Following the visitation, there will be a graveside service at 11:30 AM at Creola Cemetery, Creola, Alabama.
