

Delors Charles (Pete) Robinson – age 92, a long time resident of Chickasaw, Alabama, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 28, 2014. He was born in Jackson, Alabama on April 27, 1921. He was a Papermaker at International Paper Co. for over 40 years, retiring in 1984. His retirement from International gave him the opportunity to do what he enjoyed most, working full time with his lawn care service until 2008. He was a hard working man with a sweet spirit who took great pride in every job he undertook. He was a long time faithful member of Lafitte Baptist Church in Saraland (formerly First Baptist Church of Plateau), singing in the choir for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Mullenix Robinson; parents, Charlie and Bessie Robinson; four brothers, Evans Robinson, J.D. Robinson, C.B. Robinson, Billy Robinson; and six sisters, Lottie McDonald, Lena Pelham, Eva McIntyre, Ruby Harris, Vera McMichael and Kate Miller. He is survived by his daughter, Victoria McVay (Mike); sisters-in-law, Ollie Robinson of Saraland, Catherine Shirley of Gordo, AL, Tootsie Ayers of Tuscaloosa, AL; brothers-in-law, Fred and Searcy Mullenix of Gordo, AL and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and his special caregivers, Joanne Pettway, Daphne Bettis Dudley, Tracie Odom, Shirley Burrell and Pat Warren who took such loving care of Mr. Pete for the last year. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31, 2014, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
