Dorothy B Stanley

Born on January 15, 1923, in Jones County, Mississippi, Dorothy was the daughter of Martin and Donie Biglane. She received her education in Jones County and graduated from Jones County Junior College. On October 19, 1946, she married Chester “Buddy” Stanley in her hometown.

Dorothy dedicated 23 years of service to the Mobile County School System as a paraprofessional, where she was known for her unwavering commitment to her students. She was a devoted member of Chickasaw Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and eight siblings: Sears, Aaron, Weber, Tom, Earmon, Vaughn, Marie, and Sema Lee. Dorothy is survived by her three children: Thomas Stanley (Theresa), Yolanda Sibley, and Chester “Chet” Stanley; six grandchildren: David Sibley (Wendy), Page Ellis (Johnathan), TK Stanley (Amy), Hunter Stanley, Mary Grace, and Emma Kate; seven great-grandchildren: Kayla Bush, Payton Guinn (Josh), Lauren Sibley, Caleb Ellis, Mary Page Ellis, Mayer Stanley, and Mary Kirgis Stanley; and three great-great-grandchildren: Aria Bush, David Bush, and Callum Guinn. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

Dorothy’s life was a testament to love, service, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Chickasaw Methodist Church, 108 Lee St, Chickasaw, Alabama 36611. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will occur at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 10000 Celeste Rd, Saraland, Alabama 36571.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to Chickasaw Methodist Church in her memory.
