

Edward was known for having a very kind and generous spirit. He never met a stranger. He treasured spending time with his family and loved passing out peppermints to his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Alabama Crimson Tide football. In his younger years he also enjoyed playing the guitar and cooking for his family. He attended Barton Academy in his youth. He worked as a welder and pipe fitter and retired from Hoven Fabricators. He was a member of Boilermakers Local 112. In his free time, he also enjoyed learning the Spanish language.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Beverly Clarke Raines. His parents, Marvin “Brevard” Raines & Elsie Raines, and his brother James “Jim” Raines.
Survivors include his sons William “Bill” Raines, of Chickasaw, Alabama and David (Toni) Raines of Chickasaw, Alabama, Charles (Kim) Harrison of Clarkesville, Tennessee; daughters, Leigh (Gary) Stephens of Saraland, Alabama and Denise Raines of Chickasaw, Alabama; Sister Sylvia Taylor of Tibbie, Alabama; grandchildren, Mark Newbill, Shanna Lolley, Amber (Brent) Miller, Ava Raines, and Charles David Raines; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Sailor Lolley and Ryleigh and Blakely Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A visitation for Edward will be held Wednesday December 10, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, AL 36571. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00pm. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
