Gerald G. Floyd, Sr. – age 83, of Mt. Vernon, AL, passed away December 4, 2011. Mr. Floyd retired as Division Engineer for Southern Railway after 28 years of service. He recently celebrated 50 years as a Scottish Rite FreeMason and was involved in both WWII and the Korean Conflict while serving 6 years in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Floyd; and granddaughter, Sydney Floyd. Survivors include one son, Gerald (Sheila) Floyd, Jr.; one daughter, Alisa Floyd; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Community Cemetery.
