Glenn was born on September 2, 1951, in Athens, GA, to James T. Culbertson and Bonnie L. Northcutt. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for over 40 years, retiring from the City of Mobile where he mentored countless young men over the years while building lifelong friendships. Glenn was a hardworking, dedicated employee who passed his strong work ethics down to his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Glenn felt and believed family was everything and was a loving and very proud Dad to Corrie Glynn (Shaun) McDuffie, Jenny Lynn Culbertson and Billy (Sarah) Culbertson; PawPaw to David (Sarah) Butler, Cody (Shelby Peavey) McDuffie and Julia (Tyler Smith) McDuffie, Vegas Contorno, Violet Adams, Jaiden Culbertson and Drake Faircloth; Great Grand Paw Paw to Addison Gray Butler, Maggie Rae McDuffie, Ellie Glynn McDuffie, Camille Fay Smith and Liam Contorno. He is also survived by sisters, Della Croteau, Christina Culbertson and brothers Ronnie Culbertson and Bruce (Lynn) Culbertson along with many Bonus grandkids, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Glenn had a lifelong passion for all motor sports but was happiest sitting behind the wheel of his “Mighty Mouse”. He loved the smell of burning rubber and racing fuel and all the friendships he built with people who shared his love of cars. Glenn could tell you the make and model, size motor and what type of transmission a car had just by hearing it drive by and would talk as long you were willing to listen about cars, races, racetracks, drivers, anything related.
Glenn had the gift of storytelling and would spend hours telling his children, then later his grandchildren such unbelievable stories that we all still wonder if some of it could have been the truth…. Blackie the Dog, The Concrete Man, The Bay Creature and so many more. He loved to jump out and scare you when you least expected it, make funny faces until you laughed and was always up for a good joke. He was a man of strong faith and belief in his Lord.
