Harlan Phifer Mahan - born May 31, 1922 to the late James Connie Mahan and Ida Mae Phifer Mahan went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2019. He graduated from Tuscaloosa Senior High School on May 23, 1945. He enlisted in the United States Army prior to World War II serving in the Panama Canal and in Europe. Mr. Mahan served in the Alabama Army National Guard retiring honorably with the rank of major. He retired from Greyhound Bus Company after many years as a driver.
Mr. Mahan was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Doris Allie Segler Mahan; second wife of 5 years, Gladys Marie Jones; son, James Ralph Mahan; and siblings, Jack, Harold, Jehu, Ellis, Charles, and Eleanor. He is survived by a son, Robert Harlan Mahan (Sharon); grandchildren: Robin Annette Mahan Davis (Alex) and Marcus Lynn Mahan (Elizabeth); great-grandchildren, Carson Mahan, Chelsey Mahan, Easton Mahan, and Amelia Davis; sister, Ruth; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, September 13, 2019, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
