

Mrs. Helen Carr (Mom, Granny) 92, passed away with her family by her side on January 3, 2026. She was born on May 25, 1933 in the same community where she was married, raised her children, worked and worshiped.
She is preceded in death by her husband Orville J. Carr, and her sons Charles, Eddie and Robert, her parents Elbert and Anna Howell, her sisters Dorothy, Imogene, and Maxine, her brothers Vaude, Clarence, Ellis, Curt and Burt, granddaughters Ashley Tice and Kristin Tice, great granddaughter Carrmen Maxell, and son-in-law Norman Parmer.
She was married to Orville James Carr (Buck) for more than 73 years, worked at Wilmer Elementary School for 21 years, and often and in many ways shared her Christian faith by referencing favorite songs or scripture such as Psalm 23 "The Lord is my Shepherd..."
She loved children, cooking, going barefoot, gardening, fishing, and being outdoors, snow, traveling to the mountains and Alabama football. To all who loved her, she was considered kind, caring, loving and so forgiving. She never met a stranger and her door was always open and her smile was contagious.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Debra Carr McLaughlin (Henry), Margie Carr Roach (Billy) and Helen Carr Parmer (Norman). Many relatives including her sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Saraland from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Allentown Cemetery, Semmes, Alabama.
Serving as pallbearers, Roy Anderson, Jimmy Anderson, Bryan Carr, Adam Roach, Vince Carr, Danny Thing and Honorary pallbearer Randy Whatley.
