

Helen Walker Lewis – A native of Bashi, AL and resident of Whistler, AL died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at home. She was currently a founding member of Mercy Ministries and a founding member of Trinity Faith Bible Church. Mrs. Lewis worked for the Mobile County School System and ended her career at Northway Christian Academy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 59 years, Rev. Sam J. “Buddy” Lewis, Jr.; son, David Miles Lewis; father, Woodrow Walker; mother, Jodie Mae Walker; two sisters, Julia Seabury and Emily Faile; brother, Rufus Walker; grandson, Jerry Wayne “J.W.” Richardson; great-grandson, Gabriel Wayne Richardson; and son-in-law, Joe Forister. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Forister, son, Rev. Sam Lewis, III; son, Jerry Lewis; daughter, Renay (Mackie Ray) James; daughter, Bonnie (Tommy) Denson; daughter, Jennifer (Jimmy) Foster; one brother, Russell Walker; sister, Winnie Bush; six grandchildren, Jeremy Lewis, Angel Denson, Terry Lewis, Ashley Smith, Lee Anna Denson and Erika Lusk; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Rebecca and Alex Richardson, and was looking forward to the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Alaina Nicole Smith. She is also survived by two adopted sons, Orville Calkins and Jimmy Harvison; and family friend, Jack Smith. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Huddle and the staff at Nephrology Associates, Staff at Rubenstein Family Medical and to Odyssey Hospice. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, January 11, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Community Cemetery.
