He graduated from Murphy High School in 1946 and then joined the Navy. After his service in the Navy at the end of World War 2, he returned to Mobile and met the love of his life Ruby Inez Greene Bryant. He attended the University of Alabama Mobile Extension and received his certificate of accounting in 1955. His professional career included roles as staff accountant and controller with a number of large companies within the Mobile and New Orleans markets (Scott Paper, Strachan Shipping, Winchester Steamship, Ryan-Walsh). Outside of his career, Grady was deeply involved with his family, church (Shadowland Baptist and Springhill Baptist Churches), or civic roles (Saraland Lions, Toastmasters, Sunshine Builders, Meals on Wheels).
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry G. Bryant Sr. and Annie T. Clark Bryant, his wife of 69 years Ruby “Inez” Greene Bryant, and Wallace Bryant his brother.
He is survived by his sons David Grady Bryant (Connie) and Dr. Kevin Patrick Bryant (Lynn); his brother Richard Clark Bryant; eight grandchildren Stephanie Wisdom (Steven), Courtney Rossell (Andrew), Melanie Chan (Ryan), Lindsey Bryant, Mary Shelton Wells (Patrick), Dr. K. Patrick Bryant, Jr. (Mary Katherine), John Bryant (Caroline), Hayden Bryant and nine great-grandchildren or as Grady referred to his “GRANDS”.
We take this opportunity to thank Springhill Hospital and Somerby Senior Living for their care and attention to our dad in this most difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Saraland Lions Club or Spring Hill Baptist Church.
Graveside Service will be held at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL. on Friday, October 23, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Bryant will be held at a later date.
