Herman Gary Alford

Herman Gary Alford of Eight Mile, AL passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the age of 67. After several months of declining health, Herman transitioned peacefully with his beloved family by his side.

Herman was born in Mobile, AL to father Dutch Alford and mother Vergie Alford. From a young age, he was a lover of anything outdoors, attributing to his many years as an avid hunter and fisherman. Even in his final days, you could find him passing the time at Cedar Point Pier near Dauphin Island, AL. There’s no doubt that he’s smiling down on us from the docks of heaven with a constant bite on his line.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene Alford and sister Frances Thomas. He is survived by his sister Flora (Joe) Maples, and sister Debbie (Dewayne) Burgard; daughter Jacklyn (Thang) Lam and son Gary (Jewel) Alford; stepchildren Danny (Crystal) Miller & David Miller; grandchildren Chris Phengsisomboun, Logan Lam, Kaley Maxwell, Holly Turner, & Bucky Miller; and great-grandchildren Karley Maxwell, Jamie Reeves, JonJon Reeves, & Dominick Reeves. Herman was also blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.

A visitation for Herman is planned for Friday, October 21, 2022, from 11:00am-1:00pm. The visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. All are invited to attend. The funeral will follow immediately at 1:00pm and graveside services will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery.
