He is preceded in death by his loving parents and his brothers William Presley Andrews, Charles Neil Andrews, & Tommy Joe Andrews.
He was the oldest of 5 boys. He was born 3 months premature with a broken back. The Dr. put him in a shoebox and gave him to his parents telling them “Do not name him, he will not survive”. He did survive. They said he would never walk or talk. He did all of those things as well. He didn’t let anything stop him. He earned the nickname “Boogie” when he was a small boy because he loved to dance.
He worked his whole life , even retiring from The Mobile Housing Board after 25 years. He was well known as the Gardener there. He knew everyone from Chickasaw all the way to Grove Hill. He never met a stranger. He was always smiling and talking to everyone he met. He did his best to help everyone.
He was married to his beloved wife Darline Haney Andrews for 55 years. They welcomed their first and only child after being married for 18 years, their “miracle” Pamela Andrews Leavins (Michael) . She was the light of their lives. She gave them four Beautiful Grandchildren whom they adored, Michael , Aaliyah , Makayla , & Axel Leavins. Boogie was very active for a 79 year old man. You would often find him driving through town in his Chevy Blazer. Everyone would joke around that Boogie was going to outlive them all! He loved his family and friends and would often sit up all night talking with his sweet cousin Shirley Kelley. Boogie will be sorely missed. Go rest high on that mountain daddy, we’ve got it from here.
