

James was born on September 17, 1938, in Meridian, MS to the late Leonard and Mattie Todd. In 1958, James met the love of his life Sue. They married in 1961, and shared 54 beautiful years together, until Sue’s passing on September 22, 2015. Together, they set a tremendous example of faith, love and strength of character, and were a source of inspiration to all who knew them.
James loved the Lord and his family and always took the opportunity to tell any and everyone about them both. He was a lifetime member of Fountain of Life Church in Saraland. James served his country proudly in the United States Army for 4 years, worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years, and managed the Kushla Water Board for 25 years.
James is survived by his Two sons; Michael Todd (Shawn), and Richard Todd (Jenny), daughter; Lynette Cellon (Jeff), seven grandchildren who were his greatest joy; Leslie Rollins (Forrest), Neal Todd, Hunter Cellon (Bailey), Elizabeth Todd, Jonathan Todd, Abagail Todd, and Mattie Cellon, two great grandchildren; Fletcher and Marina Rollins, and many other family and friends that will miss him deeply.
James was preceded in death by his wife; Sue Todd, parents; Leonard “Love” and Mattie Todd, brothers; Emory Todd and Alton Todd, sisters; Virginia Chadwell, and Joyce Todd.
Visitation will be held from 10am to the 11am funeral hour on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Fountain of Life Church in Saraland. There will be a graveside service following the funeral at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland.
