Jarret Thomas Dunnam

Jarret Thomas Dunnam, 29, a native of Saraland and four-year college letterman in baseball, touched the hearts of so many before God called him home on Saturday, May 20. Born March 22, 1988, Jarret is survived by his mother, Debbie Elaine Kelly; father Thomas Martin Dunnam and stepmother Sherry (Orso); brother, Jacob Daniel Dunnam; maternal grandparents Daniel Thomas Kelly and Betty Earline Kelly; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his girlfriend, Erika Taylor and her daughter, Macie Claire. He was preceded into the next life by his paternal grandparents Charles Raymond and Margaret Halpin Dunnam. Jarret, a 2006 Satsuma High School graduate, excelled as a southpaw pitcher for the Gators before earning a scholarship to continue his success on the mound at Alabama Southern Community College in Monroeville, Alabama, followed by junior and senior seasons at Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux, Lousiana, where he earned his third and fourth letters in college baseball before receiving his bachelor’s degree. He was employed at TMS International in Calvert, Alabama. When not at his “day job,” he honed his artistic skills as a commissioned painter in oils and acrylics, as well as pencil and charcoal. His portraits and landscapes grace numerous homes in the greater Mobile area, to be cherished by their owners. Visitation is Wednesday, May 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Radney’s Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway in Saraland, Alabama, with the funeral at the same location on Thursday, May 25 at 11 a.m. Commitment service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 9700 Celeste Road, Saraland. Pallbearers cover the span of Jarret’s life, including former teammates as well as dear friends: Jarrod Amacker, Joey Amacker, Travis Paton, Spence McDonald, Brantley Rutz, Zach Thornton, Aaron Amacker, and Jason Dennis, as well as numerous honorary pallbearers.
