Randy was a devoted husband to Jennifer, to whom he was married for 35 years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, family, and unwavering commitment. He was a proud father to Brooke Smitherman (Dusty) and Cody Vaughn (Amy).
Of all the roles Randy held in life, being “PawPaw” was the one he treasured most. His four beloved grandchildren - Rowan, Audrey, Georgia, and Carson - were the greatest joys of his life. He adored every moment spent with them, and they adored him just as deeply.
Born and raised in Saraland, Alabama, Randy attended Satsuma High School and graduated with the Class of 1986. He was a gifted athlete and talented baseball player whose passion and dedication carried him into a professional baseball career. As a pitcher, he played for the Eugene Emeralds, Appleton Foxes, Baseball City Royals, Memphis Chicks, and Mobile BaySharks. His love for the game remained a cherished part of who he was throughout his life.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Ellen Vaughn. He is lovingly remembered by his brother and sister, Ed Wilkinson (Camille) and Linda Wilkinson, along with countless extended family members and dear friends.
Anyone who knew Randy will remember his quick humor and kind heart. He was the kind of man who could make others laugh easily, offer support without hesitation, and leave a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His absence will be deeply felt by all who loved him.
A memorial service celebrating Randy’s life will be held at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Monday, June 1st at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held the evening prior, Sunday, May 31st from 5-7 pm.
