
Jesse F. Ethridge, Sr. – a 90 year-old native of Mobile and longtime resident of Saraland passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012. Mr. Ethridge retired from Scott Paper Company after 38 years of service as a sheet metal mechanic. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserve. Mr. Ethridge was a longtime mason and member of the Abba Shrine, a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, and was very involved in the Democratic Party, both locally and nationally. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Ethridge. Mr. Etheridge is survived children, Cathy Moore (Vernon) and Jesse “Jeff” Ethridge, Jr.; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of William F. Green State Veterans Home for all of their care and support and for the dignified and respectful manner in which the family was treated. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the service hour.
