Jess Langley, a 79 year old resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, formerly of Mobile, Alabama went to his heavenly home on Saturday, January, 11, 2025. What a joyous reunion he is having with his parents Tommy and Mae Langley, his brother, Charles Langley and other precious family and friends.
Jess, affectionately named "Babe" by his older brother, Charles, is survived by his wife Marti Langley, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his son, Jason Langley, Knoxville, Tennessee; his daughter, Jennifer (Joey) Hale, Chattanooga, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Elisabeth (John-Chaney) Hajek, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Emily Hale, Birmingham, Alabama; Jacob Hale, Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Logan Langley, Knoxville, Tennessee; his brother, Joe (Diane) Langley, Satsuma, Alabama and his sister, Betty Maxwell (Jake) of Satsuma, Alabama all of whom he loved dearly. Family was everything to him.
"Babe" was born on July 28, 1945 in Mobile, Alabama and lived in Satsuma, Alabama until he finished high school. He joined the Army and went to Fort Jackson, South Carolina for Basic Training and to Ft. Polk, Louisiana for Advanced Infantry Training. He was assigned to South Korea for the next year near the DMZ which in his opinion was the coldest place on earth! His last tour was at Ft. Myer, Virginia, Arlington Cemetery where he worked with the Criminal Justice Department and was a member of the Old Guard. He also assisted with military funerals at Arlington.
He returned home and went to college graduating from the University of South Alabama with a Masters Degree in Business. He enjoyed the business world and became a part of the Two Men And A Truck system owning franchises in Tennessee and Georgia. He said work was fun!
Jess enjoyed sports and was all county- all conference in football and baseball at Satsuma High School. He was a Number One Crimson Tide fan win or lose although winning made our world a happier place.
His Christian walk with God was an important part of his life. He taught Sunday School for years working with young people and adults. He said serving the Lord brought him peace and happiness.
Jess was a loyal husband, father and friend. His favorite names in addition to "Babe" were "Dad" and "Paw Paw". He loved his family with all his heart and his grandchildren were "the apple of his eye"
The Celebration Of Life for Jess will be February 1, 2025 at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, Alabama. Visitation at 10:00 am and Service at 11:00 am.
