

Joseph “Joe” Peyton Lowery, 86, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home in Chunchula, Alabama. Joe was born on Friday, February 21, 1936, in Fern Springs, Mississippi, to the late Lewis Edward and Lessie Melviney Moody Lowery. He retired from the Local Union #119 as a pipefitter and welder. Joe served this grateful nation by enlisting with the United States NAVY as a Naval Veteran. He would spend spare time tending to his garden that would abundantly feed family and friends. Joe enjoyed singing, gathering with friends, and rejoicing with his church family. He treasured his family more than anything never taking for granted those precious moments spent together.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother; William J. Lowery.
Left to cherish Joe’s wonderful memories will be his beloved wife of sixty-two years; Nadine Rigney Lowery, one daughter; Daphne Stevison (David), one son; Ben Lowery (Tammy), four grandchildren: Kristin Haskew, Jarred Stevison, Benjamin Lowery, Victoria Lowery, three great-grandchildren: Lexi Ingram, Keith Ingram, Connor Stevison, along with extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Pallbearers honoring Joe will be: Jarred Stevison, Benjamin Lowery, Scott Stevison, Tracy Patterson, Keith Ingram, and Aaron Haskew.
Memorials may be sent to the Children’s Ministry at Destination Church through Give — Destination Church in honor of Joe Lowery. “The family has made a special request that no flowers under any circumstance be sent please.”
Our family would like to extend warm gratitude to Ascension Health (Providence) 12th floor nurses and doctors, Kare in Home Hospice nurses and caregivers, Loving Hands Elder Care, Linda Giddeon and Michelle Salter specifically for the love provided, care expressed, and friendships built. We would like to extend special thanks to our friends and relatives for all of the support, prayers and condolences during this difficult time.
A graveside service for Joseph will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM on the grounds of Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 10000 Celeste Rd, Saraland, AL 36571.
