Lee Edward Jordan, age 70, longtime resident of Mt. Vernon, AL, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wyona Margaree Hornsby and William Thompson “Bo” Meinhardt and biological father, Lee Elton “Pete” Jordan, his brother, Ronnie Jordan, nephew Keith Lee, niece Heather Lee, brother Tommy Sullivan, cousin Cecil Jordan and his mother-in-law, Shelba Kain.
Eddie graduated from Citronelle High School and attended Yancy State College (Coastal Community). He worked as a Millwright General Foreman Local 89. In 1986 he and his parents Bo and Wyona opened Mt. Vernon Seafood Market. In 1993 he built and opened Eddie Jordan’s Seafood. Because of his reputation as a commercial fisherman and extensive knowledge of the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta and all tributaries extending from Claiborne and Coffeeville to the causeway he was sought out and hired by Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and Alabama Power Company to track and tag fish for their research program.
He was a very competitive and athletic man. He was a natural athlete and excelled in every sport he played. He was known for his power and strength and was the locally crowned Arm Wrestling Champion. His favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and April Fools Day…he loved a good prank, a good party, his store and most of all his family.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife Sandy Jordan and children; Leigh (Jerry) Kelly, Gary Wade (Crystal), Carrie Lynn Jordan, Anthony (Beth) Jordan and Alisha Richardson. He is also survived by his aunt Edith Ariail, sisters, Diana Lynn (Kenny) Brown, Sandra (Robbie) Barnett, Tammy (Terry) Knapp, Janet (Lee) Bruhl; grandchildren; Carter,Jordan, Kaylee, Baylee, Gavin ,Trevor, Payton, Alyssa, Journey, Colton, Colby, Spencer, Ayden and Zandyn and other family and many friends.
The family will receive friends and family at Radney Funeral Home-Saraland on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel immediately following. Interment will be in Calvert Cemetery, Calvert, AL.
