Lionel Polk Hartfield

Mr. Lionel P. Hartfield, age 85, passed away at his home on Friday, March 11, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents R. D. and Edwina Johnson Hartfield , nine brothers and sisters. Mr. Hartfield was a native of Purvis, MS and longtime resident of Satsuma, AL. He retired as a maintenance supervisor after thirty-eight years with Scott Paper Company. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hartfield was a member of Creola First Baptist Church and was a Mason and Shriner. He was the “Old Stump Grinder” after his retirement. Mr. Hartfield is survived by his wife, Charlotte Y. Hartfield, children, Denise W. Freeman (Rodney), Dorothy McKenna and Brenda Preuss (John). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Valerie C. Davis (Brandon), Julie Aguiar, Diana Griffith, Robert Griffith Scot Sealy (Terra), and Karen Brincat (Steve); great-grandchildren, Laila, Cady Jane, Lauren, Peyton, Jimmy and Jesse, many nieces, nephews and other family. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
