Lula Hodges

She was the most loving and caring wife and mother anyone could ever want.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walton for almost 51 years, her parents, and four brothers.

She is survived by three daughters, Ann Shanks (Alton), Shirley Kelly (Joseph), and Jackie Vowell (Jeff); one nephew she raised, Herman Mancil (Shirley); seven grandchildren, Jerome, Tony, and Eric Lee, Christy Byrd, Jeffrey Vowell, Issac Vowell, and Kim Kelly; two step-grandchildren, Deb Shanks Chambers and Nita Lucassen; seven great-grandchildren, Brandy Smith, Michael Lee, Zoie Vowell, Cameron Byrd, Quinten Byrd, Haedyn Vowell, and Madelyn Vowell; one great-great-child, Kayla Smith, and she was a mother to several nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, August 22, 2011 from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, with Brother Ricky White officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Vowell, Issac Vowell, Jerome Lee, Tony Lee, Eric Lee, and Randy Lord. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
