Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2026 at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by service at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jeff Brewer officiating. Burial will be held at Sweetwater Cemetery in Leakesville, Mississippi at 3:00 p.m. the same day.
Margaret was born in Leakesville, Mississippi to W.J Davis and Magdalene Turner Davis on November 25, 1926 where she spent her childhood on the family farm. She graduated from Leakesville High School where she played basketball and was a member of the band playing the saxophone. After high school she entered the Navy Nurse Corp as a nursing student at City Hospital in Mobile finishing as a Registered Nurse in 1949. She started her nursing career in the Emergency Room at City Hospital, worked for the Red Cross briefly and then moved to International Paper as an Occupational Nurse where she worked for 39 years. She retired from international Paper and started working again as a consultant nurse. Her second career began at the Army Corp of Engineers working until 88 years old. Her career in Occupational nursing extended over 65 years with multiple awards.
After retirement she spent her time enjoying her family, loved sitting on porch doing crosswords, watching sports including football and women’s basketball especially University of Alabama. She also followed her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities as they grew and loved being a part of all family events. Even in her last days in the hospital she was educating nurses to be better and be compassionate for their patients.
She was a lifelong Baptist, attended Chickasaw Baptist Church for decades and late in life became a member of Redemption Church.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Charles Raymond Moore, parents W.J. Davis and Magdelene Turner Davis and her siblings Ruth and Mal Cooley, Jeff ‘Buck’ Davis and Colbia Lynn, George Pat Davis, Faye Avard and grandson Jeff Moore.
She is survived by her children Billy (Tina) Moore of Fairhope, Robert (Jo Ann) Moore of Fairhope, Cissie (Jimmy) Holley of Thomasville and Becky (Rusty)Miller of Ooltewah, Tennessee, sister-in-law Beverly Davis; grandchildren DeeDee (Colin) Womack, Dan (Jenn) Moore, Dawn (Jeff) Brewer, Chris (Melissa) Holley, Casey (Scott) Ackerman, Jennifer (Kyle) Murray, Leslie Miller, Cristi(Chris) Craig, Julie (Winston) Ferguson; great grandchildren Dylan (Zorana)Alford, Kylie (Trey) Frith, Avery Frawley, Gracie Bloom, Anna Murray, Abby Murray, Murphy Craig, Margaret "Maggie" Brewer, Cooper Moore and Lisa Ferguson, and Bryce Ferguson; great great grandchildren, Cristian Alford, Dominic Holley, Zayn Alford and Ivy Frith.
Serving as pallbearers will be Vic Davis, Mark Davis, Ron Davis, Ronnie Lott, Dan Moore and Phil James. Pastor Jeff Brewer will officiate.
