It is with bittersweet sorrow we announce the passing of Marilyn Leona Simison Gattie “Queen” - a 77 year old native of Mt. Vernon, Alabama, former resident of Albany, Georgia, and most recently of Warner Robins, Georgia - at her home on Sunday morning, September 14, 2025.
She loved reading, musicals, pranks, Coca-Cola (the “elixir of the gods”), watching the birds, and listening to Zeppelin. She made every house we ever lived in a home. Her lively sense of humor stood her in good stead, and her kindness fell like a spring rain on everyone who came into her circle.
Ms. Gattie was preceded in death by her parents, Neal C. Simison, Sr. and Lula Elizabeth Simison; and her two older brothers, Neal C. Simison, Jr. and John S. Simison. She is survived by her brother, Thomas R. Simison; three children: Kimberly D. Robinson, Michael W. Gattie, and Virginia E. Gattie; and three grandchildren: Jordan R. Whitfield, Carson M. Gattie (Sky), and Kaylee G. Gattie.
A brief graveside service will be held at Mt. Vernon Community Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Alabama at 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, September 20,2025. Flowers can be sent to Radney’s Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St., Mobile, Alabama, 36606. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-sarland.com.
