

Born in Philadelphia, Mississippi, her family moved to the Mobile area when she was two years old. She grew up here and graduated from Murphy High School. As a young child, she attended Dauphin Way Baptist Church and grew into a young woman there. Later, the Lord led her to the First Baptist Church of Axis which was a short distance from where she lived. Over the years she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, worked with Bible School and was WMU Director. From 1964 until 1988, Martha was President of Axis Flower Shop. During that time, she served on the Board as President of the South Alabama Florist's Association as well as the Alabama State Florist Association. She was awarded Alabama State Florist of the Year in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Frederick Bretzman, Jr.; second husband, Donald E. Myers; third husband, John Delmer Touchstone; parents, Maude Hollingsworth and Glover E. Webb; four brothers, Ernest Melton Webb, James Robert Webb, Lt. Willis Lawson Webb, and Glover Aaron Webb; and her sister, Mary Patricia Webb Williams. Survivors include her daughter, Karen "Candy" Bretzman (Douglas) Painter; son, Carl E. Bretzman; sister, Ann Carns of Orlando, FL; step-son, Rev. George R. (Carol) Myers; five grandchildren, Ivy Jeannene Painter (John) Mitchell, Carl E. "Brett" (Amanda) Bretzman, Jr., Lauren Ashley Bretzman, Zachary Harold Bretzman, and Carlie Olene Bretzman; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Mackenzie Mitchell, Trey Bretzman, Brandon Bretzman, Kassidy Bretzman, and Ian Bretzman; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Creola Cemetery, beside Methodist Church.
