

CMDCM Marvin Ely "Bill" Mason, USN, Ret. – a 71 year-old native of Whistler, AL and longtime resident of Semmes passed away October 3, 2015. Mr. Mason, a veteran of the Vietnam War, retired as a Command Master Chief from the United States Navy after 30 years of service. An automobile enthusiast, he enjoyed going to car shows. He was also an avid supporter of POW/MIA and Vietnam veterans. Mr. Mason was a loving man who enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Diana Mason; children, Ralph Timothy Mason (Donna), Tonja Marie Vaughn, Barbara Lynn Lindstrom (Todd), Russell Edward Mason (Danielle), and Jerry Dean Mason; brothers, Richard Earl Mason, Tommie Lynn Mason, and Calvin Eugene Mason (Sandra); 15 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Yellow Pine Cemetery in Yellow Pine, AL at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) or any POW/MIA support organization.
