Mary Helen Barnes Glisson

Mary Helen Glisson a longtime resident of Saraland and Orange Beach, passed away in the home of her loving daughter Roxie, on Saturday, June 21, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mama was born October 27, 1935 in Bolling, Alabama to the union of Edward and Bertha Barnes and was raised by her grandparents Levi and Bama Watford. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth W. Glisson, her son, Kenneth W. (Skipper) Glisson, Jr. and her grandaughter, Misty Glisson. She is survived by her children Ginny (Billy) Phipps of Gulf Shores, Sammy (Julie) Glisson of Satsuma, Roxie (Greg) Newberry of Summerdale, eight grandchildren; Whitney Barnes and Josh Glisson, Preston, Marshall, Audrey and Elijah Hadley, Garrett and Blaine Glisson. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, her siblings, Betty Zumbrum of Florida, Shirley (Jack) Black of Gardendale, AL, Benton Watford Tennessee, numerous nieces and nephews and one special niece and caregiver Kim Jones. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Saraland on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a memorial service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 6:00 p.m. Dana Watford, Mrs. Glisson’s nephew will officiate.
