Surrounded by family, Mary Carolyn Yarbrough, 84, of Stockton, Alabama, passed away peacefully after a too-short battle with Leukemia. She was a fighter and she gave it her all. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing on July 10, 2020. Carolyn was a loving wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Her favorite name to be called was Gommy, Mommy with a “G.” Many people referred to her as Gommy, family or not. She was an excellent seamstress and a fantastic cook and she made amazing cakes, all of which were sought after by family and friends alike. She loved to read and collected many books and cookbooks and was very proud of her collection. She also enjoyed doing genealogy research, which she and her sister, Faye, often did together. They spent many a day exploring libraries and courthouses, cemeteries, and battlefields throughout the South as they gathered information on their family’s ancestry.
