Matt was one of a kind, there truly was no one else like him. He was larger than life. He could talk to a stranger as if they had been lifelong friends. He had the most infectious smile and could light up any room. He was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Matt was an avid outdoorsman. It brought him great joy and peace to be in nature. He loved spending time hunting and fishing, starting at the age of four, and continued to do so for the rest of his days. Another one of Matt’s favorite things to do was watch Alabama football and celebrate the numerous wins with a bonfire afterwards. Between his countless jokes and memorable stories, he was always remembered as the life of the party. He was a best friend to so many and he cherished all the memories he made with his closest friends. Matt shared a very close bond with his brothers, Mark and Mike, as well as his brother-in-law, Jimbo. His friendships were so important to him. He had many best friends. Among them, Cully Palmer, Shane Hayes, Jason Saranthus, Greg Parker and Brian Shepherd. He was affectionately referred to as “Uncle Matt” by those who loved him like family. He was looking forward to his Bec Bec’s wedding next year and felt blessed to have known her fiancé, Michael. He was passionate about so many things, but there was nothing he loved more than his family. He accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age and talked recently about his salvation. We have assurance that we know where he is and will see him again in Heaven. Until we meet again, Matt, please watch over us and guide us with the light from your ever so bright smile. We love you forever.
