Maxie M. "Mickey" Gatlin - a 79 year-old native of Brookhaven, Mississippi and resident of Satsuma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 12, 2019.He was a lifelong coach for his sons and their friends and later, an avid supporter of his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting endeavors. He loved to travel, especially to the mountains. He was an ardent Alabama Crimson Tide and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Above all else, Mr. Gatlin loved his Lord and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mattie Gatlin; son, Johnny Gatlin; and siblings, James Gatlin, Gayle Gatlin, Ronnie Gatlin, and Ginny Holston. Mr. Gatlin is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Alice Gatlin; sons, Mark Gatlin (Ashley) and Palmer Gatlin (Cherie); grandchildren, Allison Blaylock (Mikey), Kelli Gatlin, Amber Gatlin, Tammy Ksor (Daniel), Whitney Gatlin, Amanda Gatlin, Andrew Gatlin (Mila), Hannah Gatlin, Roscoe Boster, Emily Fowler (Aaron), and Nicole Cornelius (Josh); great-grandchildren, Cole Blaylock, Hope Blaylock, Landon Gatlin, Becca Ksor, Mattie Gatlin, Harper Gatlin, Baylee Hill, and Brooklyn Cornelius; siblings, Dolly Nell Murph, Betty Mardis, Irma Couey, Syble Parten (Dickie); special son Kevin Saucier and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from Saraland Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Visitation will be held from Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
