Maxine Middleton Copeland – an 82 year-old native of Mobile and resident of Gulf Shores passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Mrs. Copeland retired from Mobile Infirmary after 25 years of service as a registered nurse. A co-owner of Starvin’ Marvin’s Convenience Store with her husband, Marvin Copeland, she continued to operate the business for many years following his death. She was a longtime member of the Order of Athena and loved spending time at the beach.
Mrs. Copeland was preceded in death by her parents, Odis Lee and Jimmie Fay Middleton; husband, Marvin Copeland; and brothers, Jimmy and Jackie Middleton. She is survived by her children, Marlene Crawford (Joey) and Marvin “Marty” Copeland, Jr. (Joann); siblings, Barbara Myrick (John), Johnny Middleton (Marilyn), and Belinda Walker (Bobby); grandchildren, Morgan Crawford, Josh Crawford, Monica Crawford, Makayla Ridgway (Matthew), and Mason Copeland; and a great-granddaughter due in August, Charlie Marie Ridgway.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the service hour.
