Merle Burgess Thompson - born in Flomaton, AL on October 25, 1920, passed on October 20, 2012 at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Preston E. Thompson, Sr.; her son, Preston E. Thompson, Jr.; and her sister, Stella Ellenburg. She is survived by one sister, Betty Jo Brannon; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Jean Thompson; three grandchildren, Portia E. Thompson, Preston E. Thompson, III, and Perry Eric Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Peyton Elizabeth Thompson and Preston E. Thompson, IV; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Visitation began at 10 a.m. prior to services. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
