Myrtle Elizabeth (Covington) McCoy Sullivan, aged 95, passed from life to life on December 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lloyd McCoy and is survived by her children Margaret L. McCoy, Robert S. McCoy, Gary J. Brown, and Nancy L. Brown as well as many grandchildren, great-and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Myrtle was born on September 4, 1923 in Wayne County, Mississippi, the daughter of Walter and Molly Covington. She lived in Mississippi until the death of her husband, Robert, in World War II. She relocated to Mobile soon afterwards with her two small children.
Myrtle was an avid reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast, gardener, and life-long learner. Her generosity and care of others was admired and appreciated by all who knew her.
She was a retiree of Regions Bank and a dedicated member of Celeste Road Church of God in Saraland for over 40 years. Her Christian faith was an integral part of her life and she studied the word of God daily. This faith not only comforted her but now gives peace to the family and friends who will miss her immensely.
Pallbearers are Jonah Dismukes, Anthony Jelercic, Jerry Thompson, Jay Thompson, Rex Carr and Ben Holloway. Her great great-grandson, Preston Dismukes will serve as honorary pallbearer.
