Nancy Sue Henley Merritt, of Axis, Alabama departed this life on August 23, 2026. Nancy was born January 18, 1940, to Jesse Radford Henley, Sr. and Jessie Leora Cleckler Henley. She graduated from Satsuma High School and retired from Scott Paper Company. Nancy married Henry David Merritt, and they shared a life together with a beautiful family.
Nancy enjoyed many pleasures in life. She was an avid gardener and crafts person. Her life was one lived in service to others and the Lord Jesus. She was an active Member of Fountain of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
Nancy Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Henry David Merritt; her parents, Jesse Radford Henley, Sr. and Jessie Leora Cleckler Henley, and one brother, J.R Henley, who all welcomed her into her heavenly rest.
Loving memories will be shared by her children: David Windle (Bernadette), Donna Coleman, Roger Windle (Lonnie), and Jeff Windle; Grandchildren; Chris Windle, Jeremy Windle, James Windle, Jessica Miller (Lucas), Sydney Knight; Six great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Anne Henley, and a host of other friends and relatives who mourn her passing.
A Celebration of Life Service for Nancy Sue Merritt will take place at 11 am on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Radney Funeral Home-Saraland (1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, Alabama) with Brother Al Moore, officiating. Family will receive friends during the visitation at 10 am, prior to the service.
