Mrs. Nellie Sue Dismukes (Known to all as Cricket) September 15, 1925 – September 19, 2022 Cricket passed away at her home on Monday, September 19, 2022. She was 97 years old. She was born in Northport, Alabama to Alice Anna Brown and Ben Jones Brown. She was the ninth of nine children. She graduated from Murphy high school in Mobile and attended the University of Alabama in Mobile. Cricket married Maurice Vail Dismukes Jr. (Diz) and together as a loving couple they united, side-by-side for more than 73 years. They have five children: Marcella, Anna, Maurice (Rusty), Marvin (Ben) and Matthew. Along with raising five active children she worked with her husband, Diz, at Dismukes Hardware and other enterprises in Satsuma, Alabama. She enjoyed the beauty of this earth provided by the flowers and vegetables. Green was her favorite color. She believed firmly in the promise of a resurrection (Acts 24:15) and looked forward to doing her part in making the earth a paradise after her resurrection (Psalms 37: 11, 29). She is survived by her husband Maurice Dismukes Jr., daughters; Marcella Gottier and her husband Don Gottier, Anna Deslonde and her husband Mike Deslonde, sons; Rusty Dismukes, Ben Dismukes and his wife Leigh Dismukes, Matthew Dismukes and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
