Opal Diane Smith Dees

Opal Diane Smith Dees – a 72 year-old resident of Eight Mile, Alabama passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Mrs. Dees retired from the Mobile County Public School System after 25 years of service as a high school teacher, having last taught at Mary G. Montgomery. Mrs. Dees was a 1969 graduate of Vigor High School and the University of Mobile. She was a longtime member of Kushla-Bethany Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dees was preceded in death by her father, Reynolds Smith; brother, Larry Smith; and son, David Dees. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Fred Dees; son Jason Dees (Holly); mother, Mattie Smith; grandchildren, Tyler Dees and Hannah Dees; sister-in-law, Connie Smith; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services and interment will be held in Mauvilla Cemetery on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-saraland.com.
