Owen Clyde Johnston Jr.

Owen Clyde Johnston Jr, age 83, of Semmes, Alabama died Dec 8, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home. Born November 14, 1936, in Eclectic, Alabama, he was the son of the late Owen Clyde Johnston Sr. and Tossie Mae (Autrey) Johnston. Owen spent most of his life in the road construction industry, and in off time, loved gardening, spending quality time with his family and raising registered Milk goats. Owen, a 62 year Semmes Resident attended Semmes Second Baptist Church where he was a beloved Sunday School teacher and Deacon.

Owen was preceded in death by his Wife Johnnie Lee (Cumbie) Johnston; brother, Lamar Johnston; and sisters, Annie Odom, Virginia Reaves, and Edity Cassity.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Jordan (Late Charles Jordan), Benny Johnston (Donna), Shirley Redden (Rick), and Daniel Johnston (Andrea); brothers, Bobby Johnston, Marvin Johnston; sisters, Betty Jo Howell, Vermel Timberlake, ClydieMae Dement; grandchildren, Carla Little, Ross Johnston, Cheyenne Redden, AnnMarie Redden, and Ryan Redden; great-grandchildren, Railey Little and Mason Little; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A visitation for Owen will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, Alabama 36571. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memorial Gardens, 8730 Sims Rd, Semmes, Alabama 36575.

A special Thanks to the Nurses, CNA’s, Social Workers, and Chaplains at Kindred Hospice, and to one that shared the past 8years as a special sitter Ms. Barbara Walker.

Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Johnston, Oscar Cassity, Curtis Richardson, Gene Jordan, Ryan Redden and Nick Little. Honorary Pall Bearers, Ross Johnston, Dalton Johnston, and Mason Little.
