Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Bernice P. Vernon; one brother, Glenn Vernon.
Ronnie is survived by his wife Betty Monk Vernon of almost 59 years (June 25th); son Scott (Abby)Vernon and daughter Rhonda Vernon (Tom) Herndon; grandchildren, Jessica Vernon, Brandon (Ashton) Vernon, Brooke Herndon and Brett Herndon; brother George Vernon and sister Pamela Vernon.
An avid hunter, Ronnie spent countless weekends with his family at his camp at Bates Lake and hunting on the Alabama River Cut Off. He introduced his love of the outdoors and deer hunting to his children and later his four beloved grandchildren.
Ronnie worked at Brookley Field and retired from Scott Paper Company in 1988. Following retirement, Ronnie started his own business, Ron's Tractor Service, -- finally, a job that he loved and took great pride in his workmanship.
Ronnie came to know the Lord in August 1988. He was a member of Redemption Church where he was active in the W.D. Brunson Sunday School Class.
Ronnie was a man of integrity, generosity and had a unique sense of humor. He was a devoted Husband, Daddy, "Pap" to his grandchildren and a friend to many. He was so proud of his family and his family was so proud of him.
We would like to thank Kindred Hospice and Visiting Angels Living Assistance Service for their love and care during this difficult time.
