Roy Byrd Jr.

Roy Byrd, Jr. – died at a local hospital at the age of 73 on January 31, 2011. He was a native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Georgetown. He was employed with Smith Bakery for 30 years and retired from Bailey’s Construction Solution. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Byrd, Sr. and Lessie Byrd; sister, Angie Johnson; brother, Norman Byrd; and son-in-law, Mark Williams. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Vesta M. Byrd; two daughters, Wanda Byrd (Robby) and Darlene Garris (Johnny); brothers, Paul Byrd, Garner Byrd (Belle), Sidney Byrd (Pauline); sisters, Rosie Lee Herren and Christine Sykes; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Visitation will be held at Georgetown Baptist Church on Lott Road on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the church with Bro. Eddie Brunson and Bro. Paul Ott officiating. Interment will be in Lott Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Rob Byrd, Jeremy Williams, Chad Byrd, Mitchell Williams, Logan Byrd and Leslie Moye; great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
