Roy Edward "Ed" Jones

Roy Edward “Ed” Jones – A native of Newton, MS and a resident of Eight Mile, AL passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in a local hospital. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Kushla-Bethany Baptist Church. He was a WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Jones was an active member of the Gideons Organization. He retired from Scott Paper Company after 29 ½ years of services. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ina Jones; and his first wife, Thelma Gibson Jones. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jones; four children, Sandra (Phillip) Butts, Sherry (Herman) Davis, Paul Jones and Donnie (Julie) Brady; two brothers, Sam Jones and Johnny Jones; one sister, Louise Wilson; seven grandchildren, Angela Travis, Phillip (Kelly) Butts, Jr., Andrea Robinson, Heather Robinson, Eric Brady, Carmen Brady, and Morgan (Kody) Wiggins; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be Friday, March 23, 2012, at 1 p.m. from Kushla-Bethany Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens with full military honors rendered.
