Ruth Annie Burleson Guthrie

Ruth Burleson, a longtime resident of Mobile AL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 17th, 2024. She was born Ruth Annie McMillian on February 25th, 1933 in Vancleave, MS to Alma and Mary McMillian. She had two sisters, Nola Mohr and Clara Burroughs and six brothers Robert McMillian, Ben McMillian, T.W. McMillian, her twin brother Ralph McMillian, Harold McMillian, James W. (Bo) McMillian who have all preceded her in death. Ruth married in October 1954 and had two sons, Claude JR and Todd (Jennifer) who have also preceded her in death. She married Gary Guthrie in 1989 and they were married for 28 years until his death in 2017. She was the proud Maw Maw to four grandchildren Lucrecia (Rich) Middleton, Alicia (Rob Thomas) Burleson, Kaitlyn (JP) Davidson, Kevin (Danielle) Burleson. She had four great grandchildren Devon, Alyiah, Andrew, Graycen and one great great grandchild, Latten.

Ruth was born and raised into the RLDS church and was very involved helping wherever she was needed. Every Sunday after church she would cook a big meal for her family and oftentimes she would bring friends home from church to enjoy a good meal and fellowship.

Ruth went to Vancleave High School where she played on the basketball team and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class which she was very proud of. Ruth took secretarial classes and became a proficient secretary for many years and retired from International Paper Company.

Ruth enjoyed bowling, which she was in a league for many years, cooking, sewing, crocheting, playing Bridge and also playing cards with her relatives, especially a game called High Low Jack and last but not least she loved her Alabama football team ROLL TIDE!!!

A visitation for Ruth will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, AL 36571. A second visitation will occur Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints, 12205 Mt Pleasant Rd, Vancleave, MS 39565. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints, 12205 Mount Pleasant Road, Vancleave, Mississippi. Interment will be held at Community of Christ Cemetery, Vancleave, Mississippi
