Ruth Parks Daughtry

Mrs. Ruth Parks Daughtry, age 73, and longtime resident of Saraland, AL passed away at her home surrounded by family after a long struggle with cancer on Sunday, August 24, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Morton “Jay” Daughtry, daughter Vicky Lynn Daughtry and brother James Gibson. Mrs. Daughtry was a longtime member of Bayou Sara Baptist Church. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Daughtry is survived by her children Dana Rene Townsend (Randy Hendrix) and Kayla Marie Daughtry (Trey). She also leaves to cherish her memory her granddaughter Tara Bradley (Kevin) and her great-grandsons, who she adored, Landon Lawrence and Jay Rylan Bradley; siblings Jimmy Chestnut (Myra), Marie Braswell (Bryce) and her forever special friend, Barbara Clonts. Visitation will be Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Bayou Sara Baptist Church, Saraland, AL. Interment will follow in Valhalla Cemetery, Eight Mile, AL. Pallbearers will be Lyle Chestnut, Lee Chestnut, Jay Chestnut, Andrew Young, Lana Chestnut and Paul Ellis. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-saraland.com.
