

Rev. Sam J. “Buddy” Lewis, Jr. – A native of Citronelle, AL and resident of Whistler, AL died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at home. He worked with BLP Paints for 38 years. He was a retired Pastor and Evangelist of over 40 years. Rev. Lewis was a veteran who served in the US Army. He was currently a founding member of Mercy Ministries and a founding member of Trinity Faith Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his son, David Miles Lewis, father, Sam Jones Lewis, Sr., mother, Lily Boothe Lewis, two sisters, Margie “Baby” Henderson and Nancy Sutcliffe; grandson, Jerry Wayne “J.W.” Richardson; and great-grandson, Gabriel Wayne Richardson; and son-in-law, Joe Forister. He is survived by his loving wife of over 59 years, Helen Walker Lewis; daughter, Shirley Forister; son, Rev. Sam Lewis, III; son, Jerry Lewis; daughter, Renay (Mackie Ray) James; daughter, Bonnie (Tommy) Denson; daughter, Jennifer (Jimmy) Foster; sister, Dea Miller; sister, Audrey Wilkerson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and was looking forward to the arrival of his great-granddaughter, Alaina Nicole Smith. He is also survived by two adopted sons, Orville Calkins and Jimmy Harvison; and family friend, Jack Smith. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, November 2, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Community Cemetery.
