Sandra Kay Barnes

Sandra Kay Barnes of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, passed away February 17, 2026 at the age of 79. Sandra was born January 26, 1947 in Mobile, Alabama where she spent most of her life. She graduated from Vigor School then earned a degree from Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. After school she held various positions managing life and car insurance sales.

Surviving family includes her four children, Chellye (Jeff) Campbell of Florence, Alabama; Heath Saxton of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; Shannon (Mandy) Saxton of Deville, Louisiana; and Byron (Tammy) Saxton of Hattiesburg. Sandra loved her grandchildren, Harley (Seth) Stockman, Alec Koestler, Christian Saxton, Cadie (Abe Darnell) Saxton, Zachary Saxton, Julie Saxton, Blake (Leslie) Austin, Jacob (Emily) Bates, and Hannah Mills. She has most recently been enjoying her latest great granddaughter, Marlowe Darnell in addition to Liam and Noah Austin, Rhys, Carsen, Aurora, Lilah, and Luca Bates. Sandra has many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many good friends.

The last few years, Sandra has lived at Wesley Manor where she was very active with the Lunch Bunch, playing mahjong, dominoes, and many other games, and celebrating with her friends for all of the holidays. Sandra is probably best known for her sewing, crocheting, and crafting. The family is grateful for the staff at Wesley Manor who have gone above and beyond during Sandra’s time with them.

She loved attending Calvary Baptist Church with her son and daughter-in-law and participating in the Hardy Street Baptist ladies group, the Joy Club.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Fletcher Earl Barnes of Philadelphia, Mississippi and Katie Mae White Barnes of Morton, Mississippi and her sister, Ruby Annette Barnes Smallwood, Satsuma, Alabama.

Pallbearers are Zachary Saxton, Alec Koestler, Seth Stockman, Abe Darnell, Scott Moore, and Blake Austin.

A visitation will be held on February 23, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home, located at 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, Alabama, 36571.

The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home

on February 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm.

Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
