Sylvia was the daughter of Johnnie and Bonnie Bruhl. She worked as a secretary at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. In the time before her passing, she lived at The Meadows of Jackson, where she was known for her quick wit, her big smile, and always looking her best.
Sylvia especially enjoyed spending time with Dutton, Dansby, and Fisher, whom she lovingly called “her boys.” Feisty, funny, and fiercely devoted to her family, she was truly one of a kind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Posey Gaffney; her parents, Johnnie and Bonnie Bruhl; her sister, Shelia Ann Bruhl Clegg; and her brother, John Michael Bruhl. She is survived by her sisters, Fay (Irwin) Cooper and Anita Bruhl Gray (Nathan Welborn).
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama. The funeral service will begin there at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Jay Meitzler, Chase Meitzler, Brandon Gilpin, Dennis Gray and Dallas Gray.
Honorary pallbearers are Fisher Robinson, Dutton Gray and Dansby Gray.
