Terry Eugene Simison was born in Prichard, AL on February 15, 1942 to Francis & Fannie Simison, passed away on September 10, 2019 in Mobile, Al, he was raised in Creola, AL. He graduated from Satsuma High School in 1960 and attended college at Mississippi Southern. He married his soulmate and best friend Deborah Pylate on March 23, 1974 and they made their home in Saraland, AL. He worked in the lab at Union Carbide until 1979. Then he & Debbie owned and operated T&T Hauling and Simison Enterprises from 1980 to 1986. They then opened A Little Taste of Heaven Yogurt Shop in Saraland and it was a fun gathering place from 1986 to 1989. But he and his wife are best known as the owner and operators of Uncle Simies and Aunt Simies Deli’s in the heart of downtown Mobile from 1989 until 2003. He and his wife were also the founding members of Hemophilia Preferred Care Pharmacy.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Riding on his tractor on his hunting land was his favorite place to be. He loved to make a “paradise” as he called it for the deer to enjoy. However, a Saturday in front of the t.v. watching an Alabama game came in as a close second. Whether it be live or one from 1969 that he’d seen 20 times. He’d know every play before it happened, who the player was that was going to make it and commentated it to you through it.
To those that knew Terry and loved him knew that he was the ultimate story teller. Whether you were hearing the story for the first time or the tenth time he never skimped on the details.
He was preceded in death by his parents Francis Webb Simison and Fannie Myra Lister Simison. His brother Francis B. Simison and his son Paul Wayne Simison. He is survived by his wife and constant companion of 45 years Deborah Pylate Simison. His children Renee (Leslie) Slay, Ashley (Mike) Fredrick and Kimberly (Mike) Barnett. His grandchildren Josh (Karen) Knapp, Brittany (Casey) Smith, Jeremi (Katie) Knapp, Kayla (Branden) Little, April Simison and Destin Terry Bedsole. Ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. His “adopted into his heart children” are Michelle Greer Frost, Jarrett Hipp and their families. He also had many wonderful friends and relatives. A special thanks to Dr. John Galla for his friendship, love and grace.
It was a ritual that every morning Terry would get his coffee and read the obituaries. He said that if his name wasn’t there then it was going to be a good day. He would read every one, comment about certain ones, be sad about some or say he knew them. So we hope that we made you proud with your obituary Daddy! We hope you know just how much you were loved and just how much you’re going to be missed!
