Thomas was born in Castleberry, Alabama, to James Cliff Calloway and Evelyn Hayes Calloway on November 24, 1941. He graduated from Satsuma High in 1960 and joined the USAF. Thomas served full-time until 1964, serving in Japan during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he returned to Satsuma and worked at Brookley Field.
In 1968, Thomas married Brenda Ann Herring and they moved to Pensacola, Florida. Thomas got an aircraft mechanic job in civil service at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia in 1970. Together, he and Brenda raised 3 children and watched their family grow over their next 41 years in Georgia.
Thomas was in the USAF reserves from 1971-1979. He completed trade school and loved being an aircraft welder, even working for private contractors until 2006 following his 1997 retirement from RAFB.
In 2011, Thomas and Brenda moved back to Satsuma, Alabama. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and it showed! He was the best dad and pawpaw! Thomas always enjoyed hunting, fishing, gator hunting, camping, gardening, woodworking, and repairing things. He could fix anything and grow anything and if he was around, there was noise, whistling and laughter! He loved the Lord and his Saraland Baptist Church family! His "happy hour" was weekly choir practice and he reveled singing in the choir! Thomas was also a member of Satsuma's Blackwell Masonic Lodge and received his 60 year pin in 2025.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Evelyn Calloway and his infant sister, Anne, of Satsuma, Alabama.
Thomas is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Brenda Herring Calloway, children, Roxanne Brown, (Kevin), of Hogansville, GA, "Tommy" Thomas Cliff Calloway, Jr, (Dana), of Warne, NC, Diana George, (Donald), of Blairsville, GA, brother, Donnie Calloway, (Beulah), of Satsuma, AL, 13 grandchildren and spouses, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins.
